In Kaliyuga, Sri Adi Shankaracharya composed the Narsimha Karaavalamba Stotra.
Adi Shankara, who was in parakaya pravesh, sought the help of Lord Narsimha, when he sensed that his body was being burnt. At that time, when he recited the Karaavalamba Stotra, the Lord is belived to have appeared before Adi Shankara and relived him from his misery. On another occasion, Adi Shankara was saved from Kaapalika, the black magicia, by Lord Narsimhaswamy, who descende upon Padmapaada, the ardent disciple of Adi Shankara and killed Kaapalika.
